Sommet des Algues
The European Commission has recently devoted a lot of attention to support algae sector developments in the European Union (EU). Among others, a dedicated EU Algae Initiative been adopted 15 November 2022 and European Algae Stakeholder platform EU4Algae has been created that already accounts more than 700 algae sector stakeholders within and outside the EU. Lack of awareness about the benefits and opportunities algae can bring to national economies and lack of acceptance of algae products in the EU have been recognized among the key bottlenecks slowing down algae sector developments. To address these, European Commission plans to organize the 1st EU Algae Awareness Summit to inspire and to raise awareness and acceptance among the EU national and regional authorities in charge of regulatory and access to space requirements.
The UN Global Compact and the French Ministry of Agriculture are co-organizing this event with the European Commission with the support of the Oceanographic Institute, Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation 5th to 7th October 2023 in the Maison de l’Ocean in Paris.
The event will continue on October 6th with more presentations and internal EU Member States discussions and will be open to public on Saturday Oct 7th with conferences and product demonstration.
By participating in this event, you will help us promoting the algae sector to the EU Member States, demonstrate operational examples at global scale and inspire future algae sector players in the EU.
